At the discussion, Lewis and Eva originally wanted to shoot at Rewine in formal evening wear. They changed their minds and decided to dress in traditional Chinese costumes at Rewine instead. At first, I was confused as Rewine is a Western wine bar. There would be a certain degree of trickiness to make this happen. After debating for some time, I think that these two styles will entwine nicely and agreed with the couple’s idea. Through more interaction with this lovely couple, I discovered that they are humorous and interactive. I thought of having the couple insert their humor and charisma through their funny poses in the shoot at Rewine.
The couple posed in front of rows of wine bottles in traditional wear, smiling and laughing at how they look with vintage shades. The traditional Chinese costumes merged seamlessly into the shoot, creating the couple’s very own fusion of western-oriental flavor. The shoot took place in April, which means there tend to be unpredictable rain. Eva told us that it rains no matter where she goes even though she wished that it won’t. Her mum also mentioned about praying for no rain during the day of the shoot. Since it usually rains in the evening, we were hoping to start the shoot with the sun out.
Sadly, it rained on the morning of the shoot even though we arranged to set out early to avoid this circumstance. We continued the shoot indoors at the studio before heading back out for another outdoor shoot. The rain that seemed to disappear resumed and Eva joked that she brings the rain along with her. Some people may request for rainy scenes, though the weather isn’t something predictable.
We could create a fake rainy scene, but it won’t be as genuine as the real rain itself. We also have to rely on editing the photos to achieve the desired effect. I never considered using this concept on the couple, but we seized the chance and used it. A romantic atmosphere is created as the couple stood beneath the umbrella, amidst the falling rain.
All in all, I would say that the whole album truly reflects and symbolizes the couple. It is something for them to call their own.
